I Use Plenty of Postage Tape

Filed under: Random Thoughts, Internet, Website Reviews

I send a lot of packages throughout the entire year. All of my family lives in different areas of the United States. I have a large family, so I use a lot of different shipping supplies. The supply I buy the most of is postage tape. Since buying a huge supply at a time, I can usually get it for a reduced price. If a person compares prices on the internet and in different stores, they can get it cheaper than they think. Some stores sell postage tape, and other shipping supplies cheaper, if you buy bulk supplies at a time.

Hosting Issues

I’ve been having some web hosting issues lately and it’s getting pretty annoying. Every time I turn around my hosting is either down for maintainence or its just lagging bad and very slow. I think I’m going to switch to Hostgator soon. A friend of mine has hosting through them and he never has any problems. Ten bucks a month doesnt sound too bad for the space and bandwidth that they offer. And they take Paypal which is also nice.

No Longer Free To Scam

For burgeoning journalists and writers who have been scammed by employers who take their work and refuse to pay, there is a website that has been designed to put these employers on blast. A freelance journalist who was scammed by someone on a job board created the website.  It compelled her to start a blog that allows the victims to write about their experiences and indulge in a few names dropping as well. Check it out (click here)

Yahoo Messenger vs MSN Messenger

If there were such a survey comparing both Yahoo and MSN instant messengers, then Yahoo would be the winner for me. There are several reasons for this. The ultimate reason is that Yahoo allows you to not only go invisible to the people that you don’t want to talk to but it also allows you to appear online to a selected few. I love the fact that you can leave messages for people if they are not online or read offline messages from those who send it to you. Their voice messenger is also exceptional and that too allows people to leave messages. MSN on the other hand does not allow an offline message type service at all. Its either you’re online and get the message, or offline and miss it or settle for an email. Finally what really pisses me off with MSN is the fact that the only way you can talk to someone is to appear “online” which totally sucks! MSN you’re the loser in this one.

Make Money With E-Books

Filed under: Money Making, Finance, Interesting Products, Internet

People who want to make quick and easy money are investing in e-books and reselling them for a profit. This is to satisfy the demand of web page owners who are in dire need of web content for their website. The e-books are available on several topics spanning parenting, to medical and health topics to name a few. At one site that I had visited, the e-books were being sold for $1 per book. You would be surprised to see how many people purchase the e-books, the majority of them reselling them as a package for $70.00 and upwards.

Kids Pictures On The Internet

Filed under: Blogging, Society, Internet, Rants

After showing my girlfriend a picture of my daughter, she asked my permission to use it on her blog. Before even thinking about it I told her no. While I know that she means well and that she probably considers my daughter her niece, the Internet is no place for a child’s picture to be. We are well aware of the pedophiles that also surf the Internet so too are the child pornographers who are looking for fresh “meat” to devour and exploit. My girlfriend has since had a baby and her son is all over the Internet, nude shot included. More power to her.

Facebook: A MySpace WannaBe

On the heels of successful meet-up websites like MySpace.com and Hi-5.com comes Facebook.com. This website puts people in touch with friends, work colleagues and even old classmates from high school and college. I checked it out recently and I must say that I was not impressed. You can’t magnify the pictures of your friends to get a close up to see if the face matches with the name you entered, there is lack of information on the pages and the system will refuse you if you attempt to use a fictitious name or just your initials. How lame is that? I’ve since canceled my membership with them. They’ll soon fizzle out. I guarantee it.
